FirmVerdict combines live Companies House data, a careful extraction pipeline and explainable indicators. Here is exactly what happens when you search a company.
1. Search
Search any UK registered company by name or number. Results come live from the Companies House register — the same official source used by lenders, lawyers and government.
2. Extraction
We download the company's filed accounts and extract the figures. Machine-readable iXBRL accounts are read directly from tagged data. PDF-only accounts go through text parsing, with AI assistance only as a last resort — and PDF-derived figures are always labelled with their source and confidence. Low-confidence figures are withheld, never guessed.
3. Indicators and evidence
Extracted facts feed deterministic calculations: turnover trends, EBIT, EBITDA, margins, solvency and productivity indicators. The health score is an explainable heuristic — every input is shown, and every figure links to the filing it came from so you can verify it at Companies House.
4. Decision
Record your commercial decision with a Decision Passport: a tamper-evident, timestamped snapshot of the evidence you relied on. Save the company for monitoring and receive private alerts when its filing position changes.
What stays private
Your searches, saved companies, decision records and reports belong to your account. Public company profiles show only official register data and filed accounts — never another user's notes, decisions or reports.
